Abstract
This dissertation aims to give policy reform recommendations for Chinese comprehensive sex education. This dissertation analyses sex education in the UK, the USA and Australia, three countries with a long history of sex education development. A comparative framework is constructed to identify their commonalities and differences. It then selects the strengths and weaknesses that need to be considered in the context of Chinese society. In this way, recommendations are made for the development of comprehensive sex education in China. Given the international trend toward comprehensive sex education, the obstacles to the development of comprehensive sex education in China include the archaic curriculum and the lack of professionalism of the teachers, but also the lack of inclusion of the idea of rights and gender equality in sex education. This dissertation is intended to show the way forward for the development of comprehensive sex education in China through the experiences of other countries.
